I’m No Quantum Expert—Just a Curious Firefighter with a Multimeter
Let me be honest right out of the gate:
I don’t deeply understand quantum physics. Not even close.
As you know, I’m not a scientist—I’m a retired firefighter, licensed electrician, and building inspector who’s wired more service panels and dragged more hoses than I can count.
But every now and then, an article about quantum consciousness and the Bible—or at least something that sounds like both—pops up in my feed. And even though the science behind it flies over my head faster than a bad joke at the firehouse kitchen table, something about it sounds familiar.
Not familiar like I’ve seen it in a codebook…
Familiar like I’ve read similar concepts in the Bible.
Because when scientists start talking about how our minds might be more than just brain chemistry—or that we could be connected to something bigger—it doesn’t sound crazy.
It sounds like something God’s already revealed.
So What Does It Seem To Say? (In Plain English)
Some researchers believe that your consciousness—your thoughts, your awareness, your soul—might not just be created by your brain.
They think it might come from quantum processes happening deep inside your brain cells, specifically in tiny structures called microtubules.
In even plainer terms?
They’re saying your mind might not be just your mind—and that it could somehow be connected to something greater.
Now, they’re not saying it’s God. But I’ve got to be honest—as a guy who reads Scripture and believes in a Creator, I can’t help but raise an eyebrow and say:
“Sounds like science is pointing to something the Bible’s been saying all along.”
These patterns between quantum consciousness and the Bible are too close to ignore.
Quantum Theory & the Bible: Parallels Worth Noticing
After years in the fire service, I’ve learned something simple:
When different signs start showing the same pattern—you take notice.
If you’ve got smoke pushing from the eaves and roof vents, heat beginning to banking down from the ceiling, and a crackling noise in the attic—you don’t just treat them like separate issues.
You step back and say,
“These things might be connected.”
Same thing here.
Science and Scripture come from different “systems,” so to speak.
But when both start pointing to something deeper—like a design, a connection, or something beyond what we can see—I pay attention.
So here are a few patterns I’ve noticed between this theory and what Scripture has said all along:
🔹 Quantum entanglement talks about particles that stay connected across any distance
→ The Bible says God is present everywhere
Psalm 139:7 – “Where can I go from your Spirit?”
🔹 Some scientists think consciousness might survive physical death
→ The Bible says our soul lives on
Matthew 10:28 – “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.”
🔹 Theories hint at some kind of mental or energetic connection between people
→ The Bible says we’re spiritually united in Christ
1 Corinthians 12:27 – “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
🔹 Some believe consciousness might be built into the fabric of the universe
→ That sure sounds like intelligent design to me
Acts 17:28 – “In Him we live and move and have our being.”
It’s okay if quantum consciousness and the Bible feel like different worlds—they might just be telling the same story in different languages.
We’re Not the Creator—And That’s the Point
This is where I stop and remind myself of something important:
We are finite in our thinking.
I might know how to size wire, read blueprints, and troubleshoot a faulty circuit—but I didn’t hang the stars or breathe life into a pile of dust.
We’re limited people trying to understand something infinite.
And the truth is? We were never meant to know it all.
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”
—1 Corinthians 13:12
One day, all the mysteries—of life, of the mind, of the universe—will be made clear.
Not because we cracked the code…
But because we’ll finally meet the One who wrote it.
In the Meantime: What This Theory Might Be Telling Us
Here’s a simple list that puts the pieces together:
- Consciousness may go deeper than just brain chemistry
- The universe might be more connected than we thought
- Science is still trying to explain things Scripture hinted at long ago
- You’re not an accident—you were designed
- Maybe truth is leaving fingerprints, and science is just now catching up

Final Thoughts from a Quantum-Clueless (but Faith-Filled) Guy
I’ll be the first to admit—I don’t speak quantum.
I speak codebooks, common sense, and the occasional sarcastic one-liner.
But I do know this:
The deeper science digs, the more it finds design, order, and mystery.
And mystery doesn’t weaken faith—it deepens it.
It invites us to pause, look up, and say,
“Lord, You’ve been telling us this all along.”
We don’t have all the answers.
But we are invited to search, to wonder, and to one day know the truth fully—when we meet the Author face to face.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.”
—Psalm 19:1
What About You?
Have you ever read something in science that made you think, “That sounds a lot like God…”?
Do you wrestle with the mystery of how faith and science overlap?
