If it feels like the world’s on edge lately—you’re not imagining it. But even in the chaos, we can rest knowing God is in control.
News headlines rattle nerves. Prices uncertain. Bodies ache. Families feel stretched thinner than ever. It’s easy to look around and wonder, Is anyone really steering this thing?
That question isn’t new. People have been asking it since the first storm rolled over a quiet sea. The good news? The answer has never changed: yes—God is in control.
The Unshakable Pilot
When everything feels uncertain, it helps to remember that God is in control, even when we can’t see the path ahead.
Life can feel like turbulence you didn’t sign up for, but the Pilot isn’t panicking. He’s not reaching for the manual or calling in backup.
The Lord is good and His love endures forever (Psalm 100:5).
Good and upright is the Lord (Psalm 25:8).
You, Lord, are forgiving and good (Psalm 86:5).
The same God who guided Abraham through the unknown, steadied Moses through the sea, and silenced storms on Galilee hasn’t retired. He still knows how to fly through chaos.
We Forget How Big God Really Is
Somewhere along the way, we’ve made God smaller than He is. We call Him friend—and He is—but He’s also the Creator of physics, breath, and time itself. He spoke light into existence without a committee vote. He didn’t draft a blueprint before shaping the universe. He simply said “Let there be,” and everything obeyed.
I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me (Isaiah 46:9).
He doesn’t get tired. He doesn’t take a day off. He doesn’t need advice or applause. Every earthly power eventually fades—empires fall, crowns tarnish—but God’s authority doesn’t even flicker.
From the Galaxies to Your Tuesday
It’s easy to believe God governs galaxies but forget He also cares about car trouble and doctor appointments. Yet Scripture says:
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together (Colossians 1:17).
That means everything in your world—your job, your health, your family, your future—is under His steady hand. Nothing slips through His fingers.
He’s not blindsided by layoffs or lab results.
He’s never muttered, “Didn’t see that coming.”
God doesn’t react—He reigns.
And here’s how personal that reign really is:
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? (Matthew 6:26).
Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows (Luke 12:7).
If God tracks every feather and every strand of hair, He’s not about to overlook your needs.
A Simple Way to Remember Who’s in Charge
When life spins fast, slow down for five minutes. Step outside. Notice the air moving through the trees. Feel the rhythm of a world held together with microscopic precision. The same God who balanced gravity and tilt and tide also balances your story.
Be still long enough to remember:
- The Creator who shaped the stars isn’t shaken by the news.
- The One who sustains the universe still sustains you.
- Nothing is out of His reach—not the global stage, not your living room, not your heart.
Be still, and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10).
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still (Exodus 14:14).
He sustains all things by his powerful word (Hebrews 1:3).
Closing Reflection
God is not guessing His way through history.
He is not caught off guard by today’s chaos or tomorrow’s headlines.
The One who knows the end from the beginning still has His hands on the controls—and they’ve never slipped.
So take a breath. Lift your eyes above the storm. The Creator who hung every star still holds you securely in His plan.
Take a Moment to Listen
If your world’s been shaking lately, this song might be the reminder you need. Trust in God by Elevation Worship captures everything this post is about—the peace that comes from knowing the Author of tomorrow still holds today.
As you listen, let the lyrics touch your soul: “He’s been my fourth man in the fire, time after time.” That line isn’t poetic filler—it’s truth. The same God who walked through flames with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego still walks through your storms.
This isn’t just a song; it’s a declaration.
A steady, faith-filled response to chaos that says, “I trust in God, my Savior—the One who will never fail.”
Take a deep breath. Turn the volume up.
Let these words become your own story for this week.
