“But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.”
— Psalm 3:3 (NIV)
There’s something steady about this verse. David doesn’t say life is easy or that trouble isn’t real. He just states that God is in the middle of it—a shield, a covering, something surrounding him when everything else feels exposed.
That idea of God being “around” us matters. Not distant. Not waiting for us to get it together. Present, even when we’re worn down or discouraged.
And then there’s that last part—“the One who lifts my head.” That’s simple, but it hits. There are seasons where you don’t feel strong, and you’re not walking around confident. But God doesn’t leave you there. He restores something quietly, over time. Not by force, but by presence.
Sometimes faith isn’t about pushing forward—it’s about remembering who’s standing with you.
