Deuteronomy 31:8 gives us something reassuring right from the beginning: God doesn’t simply promise to be with us when we arrive at whatever is ahead. He goes before us.
Most of us have faced times when we couldn’t see very far down the road. A change we didn’t expect. A difficult decision. Something involving family, work, health, or simply an uncertain future. We naturally want to know how everything is going to turn out.
This verse doesn’t promise that we’ll always know.
Instead, it gives us something better to hold onto: God is already present in the place we’re worried about reaching. He hasn’t abandoned us, and He isn’t waiting for us to figure everything out before He meets us there.
Sometimes peace isn’t knowing what comes next. It’s knowing who is already there.
