John 16:33 (NIV)
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Jesus never promised us a life without trouble.
In fact, He tells us plainly that trouble will come. There will be seasons we don’t understand, circumstances we can’t control, and moments when the world around us feels anything but peaceful.
But Jesus doesn’t leave us there.
He reminds us that our peace isn’t dependent on everything going the way we hoped. Our peace is found in Him.
That’s an important distinction.
Circumstances change. People disappoint us. Plans fall apart. What feels certain today may look completely different tomorrow.
But Christ doesn’t change.
Whatever you’re carrying today, remember where Jesus ends this verse: “Take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Our circumstances may be uncertain, but our hope in Christ is not.
