There is something deeply reassuring in the picture David gives us here. God’s thoughts toward us are so numerous that he compares them to the grains of sand.
It can be easy to go through an ordinary day without giving much thought to how completely God knows us. We get caught up in responsibilities, worries, plans, and everything that needs our attention. Yet through all of it, we are never outside of God’s awareness or care.
David understood that God knew every detail of his life, and instead of finding that overwhelming, he found it precious.
Maybe that is something worth carrying with us this week. Wherever we are and whatever we may be facing, we are known by God. And when we wake to another new day, He is still there.
