“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
— 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)
Freedom is often described as the ability to do whatever we want. But this verse points to a different kind of freedom—one that comes from the presence of God in our lives.
Many of us know what it feels like to be weighed down by worry, regret, fear, or the constant pressure to measure up. Those burdens can quietly shape how we think and live. Yet Paul reminds us that the Spirit of the Lord brings freedom. Not freedom from every difficulty, but freedom from being controlled by those things.
The more we learn to trust God, the less we have to carry on our own shoulders. We begin to find rest where there was anxiety and peace where there was striving.
Real freedom may not always change our circumstances, but it can change the way we walk through them.
